Meet our Founder
Ben Fillery is the founder of Minds over Matters training and consultancy. He worked in the marketing industry for over 20 years as a strategist, understanding what motivates people to buy brands.
Ben then experienced mental ill health after redundancy and suffered with anxiety and depression. Ben was astounded at how easily it was to slip from good mental health to poor mental health. He has since been on a mission to raise awareness and smash the stigma of talking about mental health issues.
Anyone can experience poor mental health and it can happen at any time – but recovery is possible. It’s this positive mental health message that inspires Ben as an accredited Mental Health First Aid instructor. It also underpins the training ethos at Minds over Matters.
Ben is a senior member of the Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists (ACCPH) professional body. He is a clinically qualified hypnotherapist, practitioner in NLP and has a NCFE level 2 qualification in counselling. He’s also a Mental Health First Aid training consultant for St John Ambulance. Ben brings his thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm for learning to the classroom – be it physical or virtual – making any Mental Health First Aid course an enjoyable, educational experience.

Upskill your colleagues with Mental Health First Aid training
Promoting positive mental health is our mantra at Minds over Matters. We help companies train their employees to spot the signs of mental ill health and provide guidance towards professional support.
We don’t teach people to be therapists, but we do teach people how to respond in a mental health crisis, and how to reach out before a crisis happens.
